Oak
Red oak has a very distinct, somewhat aggressive grain pattern to it. It is considered a hardwood, and is a good choice for many stain colors.

Cherry Melamine
Cherry Melamine is a low cost solution with a high end look.

Maple Melamime
Maple Melamine maintains a uniform blond color with very subtle grain.

Pine
Pine is a softwood, with noticable knots.
